Just two hours from Geneva, Avoriaz boasts a massive 650 kilometres of piste. The resort is part of the Port Du Soleil Ski Area, which includes the Morzine resort and boasts some huge stats, and excellent off piste skiing. The resort itself, located high in the Alps, is purpose built, offering a traffic-free centre and ski to door. The area is fantastic for snowboarders offering a huge range of major piste and off piste as well as jumps, bowls, wide flats and two board parks. The ski area is suitable for all levels of ability. Beginners will find a good ski school and plenty of easy runs to get them going, while expert skiers hit the black runs and excellent off piste. The most famous black piste is 'The Wall', and should only be tried by those with plenty of experience. There is also an abundance of activities for the non-skiers, such as skating, curling, ice-skating, walking, hang gliding, bowling and horse-drawn sleigh rides.
