Saalbach-Hinterglemm is one of the largest lift-linked resorts in Austria, boasting 200 kilometres of runs. Saalbach is characterised by traditional Austrian houses, an excellent lift system, and good piste maintenance. While there isn't much to appeal to the expert skiers, beginners and intermediates will be in their element.
Beginners will find a good ski school and nursery slopes. There is also 11 kilometres of cross-country skiing. Saalbach is particularly popular with snow boarders, for its 13 kilometres of boarders-only pistes, as well as a snow park and half pipe.
Lunch up the mountain is very popular due to the good quality of eateries and sun-facing slopes. The resort of Saalbach also boasts a range of activities for non-skiers, including swimming, spa facilities, ice skating, paragliding and hiking trails. There is also a good choice of apres ski, with bars, restaurants and nightclubs scattered throughout the town.
