A mile up the road from Saalbach, lies the resort of Hingerglemm. Saalbach-Hinterglemm is one of the largest lift-linked resorts in Austria, boasting 200 kilometres of runs. In comparison with Saalbach, Hingerglemm does not offer the same traditional Austrian charm - instead the buildings are larger and spread over a wider area. However it does boast the same excellent lift system and good piste maintenance. Expert skiers may find this ski area a little dull, but beginners and intermediates will be in their element. The good ski school and nursery slopes are particularly popular with beginner skiers and boarders. The area also boasts 11 kilometres of cross-country skiing. Snow boarders are fond of Saalbach-Hingerglemm for its 13 kilometres of boarders-only pistes, the snow park and half pipe. Lunch up the mountain is very popular due to the good quality of eateries and sun-facing slopes. The resort also boasts a range of activities for non-skiers, including swimming, spa facilities, ice skating, paragliding and hiking trails.

Apres
The apres ski scene at neighbouring Saalbach has a reputation for rowdiness, but Hinterglemm is much more relaxed - still offering a good choice of bars and restaurants, but with a more sedate atmosphere.
