The Turkish Riviera, also known as the Turquoise Coast, is made up of more than 600 miles of shoreline dotted with ancient towns, busy harbours, golden-sand beaches and hidden coves. This stretch of Turkey's west coast comprises the Antalya and Mugla provinces and is particularly popular with holidaymakers due to its year-round sunshine, breathtaking landscapes, and archaeological riches.
Antalya's coast stretches for almost 400 miles and boasts some of the cleanest beaches in the Mediterranean. An abundance of water sports are also on offer, including scuba diving, paragliding and sailing. Needless to say Antalya is a top destination for sun, sea and sand holidays. The old city dates back to the Greeks and Romans with its a maze of narrow streets and attractive stone arches. Afternoons can be spent relaxing over drinks at the various street cafes lining the old harbour.
Antalya's rapid growth in tourism is supported by an impressive modern infrastructure of shops, restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Popular daytrips in the area include: the magnificent Manavgat waterfalls; the amphitheatre of Aspendos; and the ancient sites of Perge, Phaselis and Termessos. During the summer, Antalya hosts various popular music festivals.
