Albufeira Holidays
Situated 25 miles, (40 kilometres) west of Faro, Albufeira is one of Portugal's most popular tourist destinations. Albufeira's seven beaches are packed with fine golden sand and lapped by turquoise waters. Albufeira Beach is a long strip of sand made up of three beaches: Peneco, Pescadores and Inatel.
Albufeira old town
Holidays in Albufeira are not complete without a visit to the charming old town, with its maze of narrow cobbled streets lined with whitewashed houses, street cafes and little shops. Visitors can relax over a coffee in the central square, Largo Eng Duarte Pacheco. To the east is the new town, with its infamous 'strip' lined with an abundance of bars, cafes, restaurants, discos and nightclubs. Here visitors can party till the early hours then enjoy a full English before the hangover sets in.
Albufeira countryside
Albufeira is surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside and dotted with traditional Bucolic villages and orange, pine, almond and fig trees. Here, visitors can enjoy hiking, biking and horse riding. Of particular interest are the villages of Guia and Pedeme, with their 17th-century churches and traditional whitewashed houses. Albufeira also hosts a gypsy market every two weeks, where visitors can haggle for local handicrafts and jewellery.
