Set on a hilly peninsula, Bali's curving bay is flanked by dramatic mountains and set 12 miles, (20 kilometres) east of Rethimnon. The bay is lined with a good selection of cafes, restaurants, hotels and apartments. Bali is a picturesque fishing village and has managed to retain much of its charm, despite growing considerably as a tourist resort. Whitewashed houses decorated with colourful flowers are set around the pretty harbour.

Holidays in Bali are not complete without a visit to the traditional hillside town of Anogia. Nestled on the side of Mount Psiloritis, Anogia is a perfect place to enjoy a coffee in the picturesque square and visit the Folk Art Museum. Holidays in Bali are also just 30 miles, (48 kilometres) from the centre of Heraklion, the capital of Crete. In Heraklion, visitors can explore the archaeological museum, take a stroll round the pretty squares and narrow streets, and haggle for a bargain at the street market.

The secluded village attracts both couples and families. The small beaches are perfect for families as they have shallow clean waters and are relatively well protected from rough seas due to the line of rocks extending out in to the bay. The beaches are comprised of shingle and sand and offer a good selection of water sports. Evenings in Bali centre round the lively hub of bars and tavernas lining the waterfront.
