Santo Tomas Holidays

The modern purpose-built resort of Santo Tomas is located on the southern coast of Menorca, 19 miles from the capital and airport of Mahon. Holidays in Santo Tomas are popular with both British and Spanish tourists, particularly families and couples. The biggest draw is the long, sandy beach of fine white sand, which is fringed with pine trees, and accompanied by a picturesque promenade. Water sports are also a popular pastime. Visitors can relax over drinks and cocktails at the beach bar.

The resort is made up of a main street selling the usual array of souvenirs and beach items. There are also three supermarkets and a good choice of hotels, villas and apartments. Those who want to explore further a field can follow the path out over the cliffs to the neighbouring resort of Son Bou, approximately a 45-minute walk, and along the way if you're feeling particularly brave, why not visit the nudist beach?

Evenings in Santo Tomas are mainly hotel-based, and during the summer months, the Hotel Victoria Playa hosts shows and dancing outside. The nearby cities of Ciutadella and Mahon are a short drive away. Mahon is renown for its excellent shopping and picturesque harbour, while the historic town of Ciutadella features a maze of narrow streets and a pretty harbour. It's advisable to rent a car, as public transport along this coast is particularly poor. Also worth a visit are the local markets of Migjorn Gran and Mercadel.
