Binibeca Holidays
On the southeast coast of Menorca, five miles south of Mahon, lies the relatively undiscovered resort of Binibeca. It stretches along the coast from Cala Torret to Binibequer Vell. Binibeca is an oasis of relaxation, and certainly isn't the place for the lively, energetic holidaymaker. Holidays in Binibeca centre round the fine white-sand beach. Families are particularly fond of Binibeca beach for its calm, shallow waters. Sun beds and pedaloes are also available.
Shopping-enthusiasts can hire a car, as public transport is limited here, and head to the island's capital, Mahon, which offers a fine choice of both designer labels and local handicrafts. The neighbouring resort of Cala Torret offers a selection of restaurants, cafes, and souvenir shops. On the opposite side of Binibeca, lies the resort of Binibequer Vell, which has been developed in the style of a typical Mediterranean fishing village, with its pretty harbour and narrow cobbled streets.
Much of the accommodation in Binibeca is made up of self-catering villas, and as a result there are a number of supermarkets. For most visitors to Binibeca, evenings are spent enjoying home-cooked food out on the veranda of their villa. But there are also a few traditional restaurants serving local Menorcan dishes. The neighbouring Binibeca Vell offers a wider choice of restaurants with international menus. Alternatively, Mahon is famous for its locally caught seafood overlooking the picturesque harbour.
