Cala Ratjada Holidays

On the northeast corner of Majorca lies the jagged coastline and countless sandy coves of Cala Ratjada. Once a quiet fishing port, Cala Ratjada, or the 'bay of rays' as it's known, is now a well-established resort. Perched on a peninsula, the resort offers numerous good beaches, an original harbour and attractive promenade.

The main town beach, 'Son Moll' isn't huge and suffers from overcrowding in summer, but a little further north up the coast visitors will find a number of beautiful sandy beaches, such as Cala Guya, Cala Agulla and Cala Mesquida - the latter of which has spectacular sand dunes. Recreational activities in the area include water sports, hiking, horse riding and golf. Visitors can browse goods and souvenirs in the fine selection of shops. An abundance of restaurants offer a huge choice of cuisine and there are plenty of bars and clubs.

Those wanting to explore further a field can drive to the surrounding picturesque villages or take the daily hydrofoil from Cala Ratjada to Ciutadella, the former Menorcan capital. Cala Ratjada has year-round appeal - proving particularly popular with German tourists during high season and elderly holidaymakers during low season. Situated 40 miles from Palma, Cala Ratjada is a 90-minute drive from the airport.
